Before the first call
Home
See the page ↗What exactly do you do?
Four things that hold each other up: web development, SEO, online marketing and maintenance. We build sites and stores, on WordPress and WooCommerce or in custom code, make them findable in Google, bring paid traffic through Google Ads and Meta Ads, and keep them running after launch. You can take a single service; most projects end up using two or three.
How much does a project cost?
There is no list price, because the price comes from decisions we make together: how many pages, whether a logo and copy exist, whether you sell online, whether you need a second language or integrations. In the contact form you choose the services and a budget range, and we come back with a proposal built on that. If you would rather not give a number, you can choose to talk first.
Do you work with small businesses that are just starting?
Yes, and we usually start with less than people expect. A well-made brochure site with the right copy and a sound technical base does more than a large project done halfway. When the budget is small, the best investment is the order of work: what happens now and what is added in six months.
Where do I start if I do not know what I need?
From what you want to happen rather than what you want built: more enquiries, online orders, fewer phone calls for appointments. The form takes three steps, and if you leave the address of your current site you also get an automated analysis of it, so the conversation starts from data. We sort out the rest on the call.
Do the site and the accounts stay mine?
Yes, all of them. The domain and hosting are registered in your name or your company's, the analytics and advertising accounts are yours, and at the end you get administrator access to the site. We hold nothing back to keep you tied to us.
What do you not do?
We do not promise the number one position in Google, because nobody can. We do not work in Shopify or PrestaShop — we build stores on WooCommerce or in custom code. And we do not sell artificial intelligence services: until we have delivered real projects in that area, they do not appear on this site.
About the services
Web Development
See the page ↗How much does a website cost?
There is no list price, because the price comes from decisions we make together: how many pages, whether a logo and copy already exist, whether you sell online, whether you need a second language or integrations with other systems. In the contact form you pick the services and a budget range, and we come back with a proposal built on what you selected. If you would rather talk first, you can choose that instead of a number.
Do you work in WordPress or write code from scratch?
Both, depending on what the site has to do. WordPress and WooCommerce are the natural choice when you want to manage content and products yourself; when you need behaviour no plugin provides, we build in code, with Next.js, React and TypeScript on the front and Node.js, PHP or Laravel with PostgreSQL behind it. That decision is made at the start, based on what the site must do two years from now.
Do you build online stores?
Yes. On WordPress we work with WooCommerce, and when the store needs rules no plugin covers, we build it in custom code. Before anything else we look at how your products are organised: the catalogue structure decides both how easily people search it and how Google indexes it.
Can I manage the content myself after launch?
Yes. You get administrator access and a walkthrough of where to change text, images and pages. On WordPress that is the familiar dashboard; on projects built in code we build an admin panel shaped around your actual content, so you are not facing dozens of fields you never touch.
I already have a site. Repair it or rebuild it?
We answer after looking inside it, not before. If the structure is sound and the problems are speed, copy or a few templates, it is a repair, which is less work than a rebuild. If the theme is abandoned, the plugins fight each other and nothing can be added without breaking something else, then every patch calls the next one and a rebuild becomes the sensible option. Leave your site address in the form and you get an automated first analysis before we talk.
Will the new site show up in Google?
Development sets the ceiling that optimisation can reach. We ship with a correct heading structure, clean URLs, a sitemap, structured data and performance measured before launch, which is the foundation SEO stands on. Position is earned afterwards, through content and authority; nobody can guarantee it, but a badly built site makes it impossible.
SEO Optimisation
See the page ↗How long until I see results?
We cannot give you a date, and anyone who does is inventing it. What we can give you is the order: the technical layer is fixed and pages are reindexed first, then niche searches start to move, and the competitive terms come last, once the site has authority. We track the movement in Google Analytics so you see it before it shows up in sales.
Can you guarantee the number one position in Google?
No, and neither can anyone else. Google does not sell organic positions and changes its algorithm several times a year; a guaranteed position is either a coincidence or a search so rare it brings you no customers. What we do guarantee is transparency about the work: what we optimise, what we publish and what changes in the data.
What does an SEO audit actually cover?
The site on three levels: technical (indexing, speed, URL structure, errors), content (which keywords you cover, which search intents you are missing, which pages cannibalise each other) and authority (what links you have and where from). The output is a list of actions ranked by impact and effort, not a hundred-page document. You can see part of those checks in the contact form itself if you give us your site address.
SEO or Google Ads?
Ads bring traffic tomorrow and stop when the budget stops; SEO builds slowly and stays. They are not alternatives: campaigns show you quickly which keywords bring people who actually buy, and that goes straight into the content plan. If the budget is tight, we discuss what is more urgent, sales now or a lower acquisition cost a year from now.
Do I have to publish articles for the site to grow?
You need content that answers what people search before they buy, not a lot of content. One piece that covers a real question can bring traffic for years, while ten written to hit a number bring nothing. We prefer a small, steady rhythm, with articles that lead into the service pages.
What happens if we stop working together?
You keep everything that was done: the optimisations on the site, the copy, the structure and your analytics accounts, which are registered in your name and not ours. The traffic you gained does not vanish overnight, but it does not grow on its own either, because your competitors do not stand still. We hold nothing hostage in accounts you cannot reach.
Marketing
See the page ↗Which platforms do you work with?
Google Ads and Meta Ads, meaning Facebook, Instagram and Messenger, with measurement in Google Analytics. The choice is not a matter of taste: on Google you reach people already searching for what you sell, on Meta you reach people who were not looking for you but match the profile. Budget usually splits between the two, in proportions set by how much your product is actually searched for.
What is the minimum budget?
We do not have a fixed floor, but we do have a rule: the budget has to be enough for the campaign to gather data, otherwise you are optimising noise. The number depends on what a click costs in your field, what a customer is worth to you and how fast you need results. Tell us in the form what you sell and the range you have in mind, and we will tell you honestly whether it makes sense.
How do I know the money is not wasted?
Through measurement, installed before the first campaign runs. We set up the events that matter to you, form sent, order placed, call started, so the conversation is about the cost of a customer, not impressions and likes. Without correct measurement, any campaign report is just a nice story.
Do you produce the ad creative too?
Yes, we write the copy and prepare the visuals, starting from your identity. If you already have product photography or video we use it; if not, we agree what needs to be produced before launch. What we will not do is promise things in an ad that the product does not deliver, because a campaign is judged in sales, not in click-through rate.
Do ads help my SEO?
Not directly: Google does not raise your organic positions because you buy ads. Indirectly they do, because within weeks campaigns show you which keywords bring people who buy, and that shortens the content plan. This is why we usually run the two together.
Do I need a website before running campaigns?
You need somewhere for the click to land, and a Facebook page is rarely that place. It can be your site or a landing page built for the campaign, but it has to load fast, say what you sell within a second and offer one clear next step. Otherwise you are paying for clicks into a closed door.
Maintenance
See the page ↗What does maintenance include?
Controlled platform, theme and plugin updates, backups, uptime monitoring, security checks and fixes when something breaks. On top of that come small content changes: a price updated, a new page, an image replaced. What it does not include is building new functionality, which stays a separate project, and we tell you upfront when a request crosses that line.
Do I need maintenance if the site works fine?
Yes, because a site does not break with notice. Most incidents start from outdated plugins, expired certificates and old PHP versions, all invisible until the day a page stops loading or the browser flags it as unsafe. Upkeep costs less than recovery.
What happens if the site gets hacked?
We take it offline if needed, restore from backup, close the way in, and only then put it back up. Without a clean copy the only option left is rebuilding, which is why backups are the first thing we put in order. If your site is already infected and we do not maintain it, tell us what state it is in and we will look.
Will you maintain a site you did not build?
Yes, after an initial review. We look at what is running, who still has access and what was changed directly in the code, because we are taking responsibility for something we did not write. If we find things that must be fixed first, we tell you separately instead of burying them in the retainer.
How much does it cost?
It depends on the platform, how many sites there are, how often content changes and how fast you need us to respond when something goes wrong. A stable brochure site and a store taking daily orders are not the same effort. Tell us what you have, and the budget range is chosen inside the contact form.
Does maintenance affect SEO?
It does, more than people expect. A site that loads slowly, throws errors after pages are moved, or goes offline for a few hours loses positions that were hard to earn. Monitoring and updates keep alive exactly the technical foundation optimisation depends on.
Can I handle maintenance myself?
You can, if you keep a fixed schedule and the discipline to follow it: back up before every update, check after, monitor, and have someone responsible when something falls over during a holiday. The hard part is not technical, it is consistency. Outsourcing makes sense when your time is worth more than the retainer.
Is my host's backup enough?
Not always, and it is worth checking before the incident rather than during it. The questions are: how old is the newest copy, how far back can you go, where is it stored, because if it sits on the same server one incident takes both, and has a restore ever been tested. An untested backup is an assumption, not a safety net.
From our guides
SEO Strategy: The Plan That Turns Organic Traffic Into Real Business Growth
See the page ↗What is the difference between an SEO strategy and scattered optimisation?
Strategy sets order and priorities; isolated fixes treat symptoms. Inside a strategy you know why a given article exists, which page has to grow first and what gets repaired before any content, because you started from keywords, structure and business goals. Without that frame you publish at random and cannot say what worked.
Where do I start if my site does not show up in Google at all?
With the technical layer, in this order: confirm the pages can be indexed, then the site structure, then the content. The technical layer is the invisible foundation of a strategy, and a slow or badly structured site cancels out even excellent writing. Only once that is clean does investing in content and links make sense.
How much do inbound links matter?
Quality and context matter, not the count. A link from a site relevant to your field says something about your authority; a hundred directory links say something else, and Google has long known the difference. Authority builds slowly, through content other people have a reason to cite.
Why is SEO an investment rather than a cost?
Because the effect does not stop when the payment stops, which is what happens with ads. A well-positioned page can keep bringing traffic long after it was published, and that traffic is not paid for per click. The reverse risk is just as real: a business that depends only on ads is exposed to every change in budget or algorithm.
The SEO Article: The Key Element That Builds Visibility, Authority and Sales in 2026
See the page ↗What makes an SEO article different from an ordinary blog post?
It starts from a clear search intent, not from an idea. It has a structure Google can read, one main heading, logical subheadings, short paragraphs, internal links, and a next step for the reader. A text written just to have something on the blog has none of that.
How long should an article be?
Long enough to fully answer the question behind the search, and no longer. There is no word count that ranks: some subjects are exhausted in eight hundred words, others need three thousand. Filler written to hit a recommended length actively hurts, because it dilutes the part that answers.
Can an article sell, not just inform?
Yes, and that is the difference between traffic and customers. An article that converts moves the reader onward, to the right service page, to an example of the work, or to the contact form, at the moment the question in the text has just been answered. The sale is not in the prose; it is in the next step you put within reach.
How fast does an article take effect?
Not immediately, and anyone giving you an exact date is guessing. A new article has to be indexed first, then climbs as it covers the subject better than the alternatives and as it picks up internal links and references from other sites. The advantage is that it keeps working long after publication, unlike an ad that stops with the budget.
Web Development: The Real Foundation of Digital Growth in 2026 and Beyond
See the page ↗Custom code or a ready-made theme?
A theme is cheaper to start and limits you exactly when you grow; custom code costs more upfront and does not box you in later. Decide on what the site must do two years from now: if you need your own functionality, integrations, or performance a stack of plugins cannot deliver, the theme becomes the expensive option. For a clear brochure site, a well-chosen and well-configured base is perfectly reasonable.
Is WordPress still a serious choice?
Yes, when it is used properly, and properly is doing all the work in that sentence. A clean install with few plugins, optimised images and suitable hosting can compete with far more expensive solutions. A WordPress loaded with twenty overlapping plugins is a different story, and that is where the myths come from.
How do I check whether my site is fast enough?
Run it through Google PageSpeed Insights: it gives you data on speed, visual stability and real user experience. Treat the score as a thermometer, not a grade; what is useful is what drags it down: oversized images, third-party scripts, a slow server.
If SEO is about content, why is development the foundation?
Because good content on a bad foundation goes unread. Indexing, speed, URL structure and internal organisation are decided during development, and they set the ceiling any later optimisation can reach. They can be fixed afterwards, but almost always at a higher price than doing them right the first time.
Meta Ads: Advertising on Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp
See the page ↗Where do Meta ads actually appear?
On Facebook and Instagram, in feed and in Stories, in Messenger and across the Audience Network of partner apps and sites. You do not pick each slot by hand: you set the objective and the audience, and placement follows wherever the result is cheaper. That is why a campaign needs creative in several formats, not one square image.
How precise is the targeting these days?
You choose by age, location, interests and behaviour, plus audiences built from your own traffic or customer lists. Precision has dropped compared with a few years ago because of privacy restrictions in browsers and phones, so the algorithm gets fewer signals and needs more time and better creative to learn. In practice, the creative now does more work than the settings.
Meta Ads or Google Ads?
On Google you reach people already searching for what you sell; on Meta you reach people who were not looking for you but match the profile. For a product nobody knows to search for, Meta gets there first; for a clear and urgent need, search wins. Most businesses end up using both, in different proportions.
Do I need a website to advertise on Facebook and Instagram?
You need a destination that continues the promise the ad made, and a Facebook page rarely does that. A site or a landing page gives you what the platform does not: your own measurement, control over the next step, and an audience that stays yours if the rules change. Without a good destination you are paying for clicks that go nowhere.
Google Ads: Advertising on Google
See the page ↗Where do Google Ads appear?
In search results, on YouTube and across the Display network of Google partner sites. The formats are very different: a text ad in search answers an intent, while a Display banner interrupts someone who was doing something else. They should not be judged by the same numbers.
How is my cost per click decided?
By auction, on every search, and the amount does not depend only on what you are willing to pay. Google also weighs the relevance of the ad and of the page it lands on, so a good ad on a good page can pay less than a weak one with a big budget. That is where the cheapest optimisation lives: fix the landing page before raising the budget.
Why am I getting clicks but no sales?
Usually for three reasons: keywords that are too broad and catch purely informational searches, missing negative keywords, and a landing page that does not deliver what the ad promised. Fix them in that order, using the data in the Ads account and in Google Analytics. Extra budget amplifies the problem instead of solving it.
Is Google Ads worth it if I am already doing SEO?
Yes, and they usually feed each other. Ads show you within weeks which keywords bring people who buy, and SEO turns that conclusion into traffic you no longer pay for per click. One thing does not happen though: an Ads budget does not raise your organic positions.
TikTok Ads: Advertising on TikTok
See the page ↗Do TikTok Ads work for every kind of business?
Not for every kind, and that is worth saying plainly. They work where the product can be shown in a few seconds and where your audience genuinely spends time; for services with a long decision cycle, other channels reach the same people faster. Check first whether you have something to film, then talk about budget.
Why does the video itself matter so much on TikTok?
Because the ad competes with organic content in the same feed, and people scroll in under a second. A clip that looks like a TV commercial gets skipped; one shot natively, with sound and with the idea in the first second, gets watched. Campaign settings matter, but here the creative decides.
Can I reuse the creative from Facebook and Instagram?
The vertical format travels; the tone rarely does. A video that works in Reels has a chance on TikTok, but a static banner or a clip with a corporate voiceover does not. Filming two or three short variants specifically for the platform beats adapting a single one.
Doctor Website - Why a Website Matters for a Doctor's Image
See the page ↗Does a doctor need a personal site when they already work in a clinic?
Yes, because patients search for the doctor by name, not only for the clinic. A personal site brings the speciality, the training, the articles and the booking route into one place without competing with the clinic site. What matters is that hours and location stay accurate in both.
What does it need at minimum?
Who you are and what you treat, where and when you consult, how an appointment is made and how someone reaches you quickly. Beyond that minimum, trust is built by clear pages on individual conditions and by answers to the questions you already get in the consulting room. The rest is decoration.
Does online booking really cut down phone calls?
It cuts the calls about simple things, checking availability, confirmations, rescheduling, and moves them outside consulting hours, which is when patients are actually looking. The phone does not disappear, nor should it: it stays for cases that genuinely need a conversation. The gain is that you stop losing the patient who calls in the evening and reaches nobody.
Can I write about cases and treatments on the blog?
You can write educationally, with care on two points: patient data never appears without consent, and the text must not promise outcomes. The format that works is a clear explanation of a condition and the options, which is exactly what a patient looks for before calling. It is also the format that brings the most search traffic.
Jewelry Website: How to Create a Successful Online Store
See the page ↗What matters most in an online jewellery store?
Product photography and clarity of information. Jewellery is bought with the eye: you need large, clean images with detail and scale, how it looks on a hand, on a neck, plus material, dimensions and a returns policy written without ambiguity. Elegant design helps, but it does not rescue a bad photograph.
Which keywords are worth targeting?
The long, specific ones, not the word jewellery. The searches that bring buyers sound like white gold engagement ring, silver earrings with a green stone, personalised name bracelet: each has small volume, but all carry buying intent. Every one of those groups needs its own page, not a paragraph buried in an article.
How much do reviews matter?
A great deal, because jewellery is bought on trust rather than specifications. Reviews with photos from real customers say what your description cannot, and a calm public reply to a negative review sometimes persuades more than ten positive ones. Ask for them systematically after delivery, not occasionally.
Do I need a site if I already sell through Instagram?
Instagram brings the people; the site closes the sale and stays yours. A social account is borrowed: the algorithm changes, the page gets restricted, and the channel is gone. The healthy combination is social content that consistently points to well-built product pages.
Automotive Website: A Complete Guide to Building a Successful Car Site
See the page ↗Which features actually matter on an automotive site?
The ones that answer before the phone call: real search and filters over stock, serious photo and video galleries for every car, a short contact form and, where it fits, a finance calculator or a configurator. Order matters: a weak gallery cancels out every other feature.
Which platform should I choose?
It depends on what you sell: a stock list that changes weekly needs something different from a workshop with fixed services. We build on WordPress with WooCommerce or in custom code, depending on how particular the inventory logic is. The point is that the platform follows the feature list, not the other way round.
How do I bring traffic to an automotive site?
From three directions, in order of cost: local searches such as car service plus your city, content that answers the questions people have before buying, and paid campaigns on the models that actually move. Google Analytics then shows which source produces real enquiries rather than visits.
Do I need a site if I already list on the big marketplaces?
Yes, because on a marketplace you are one of a hundred, sorted by price. Your own site is where you say why someone should buy from you, history, warranties, servicing, the people behind the company, and it stays yours when the marketplace changes its commission or its rules. They are not alternatives: the marketplace brings demand, the site turns it into trust.
Event Website: A Complete Guide to Organizing Events Online
See the page ↗What does an event site need to contain?
What, when, where, how much and how to register, visible without scrolling. On top of that: the schedule by day, the speakers or performers, questions about access and parking, a map and contact details. An event site that hides its registration button is an expensive flyer.
Do I need my own site if I sell tickets through a platform?
Yes, because a ticketing platform sells but does not persuade. The site is where you build the reason to come, and unlike a Facebook event it stays indexed in Google, can be reused for the next edition and leaves you the traffic data. The buy button can hand off to the platform.
How early should the site go live?
As early as possible, even as a minimal page: date, city and a notify-me form. Google needs time to index, and you need an email list before paid promotion starts. A page published late is competing against its own deadline.
What do I do with the site after the event?
Do not delete it. Turn it into the archive of that edition, photos, recordings, numbers, thanks, and keep the same address, because the authority you earned carries over to the next edition. A new domain every year means starting from zero every year.
Real Estate Website: A Complete Guide to Building an Effective Portal
See the page ↗What separates a property portal from a brochure site?
The internal search engine and the way listings are structured. A portal treats properties as records with fields, price, floor area, district, number of rooms, that can be filtered, sorted and indexed; a brochure site has hand-written pages. The difference shows once you pass a few dozen properties.
How should I present properties so they generate enquiries?
With good photographs in a logical order, exterior, living room, kitchen, bedrooms, bathroom, view, descriptions that cover what the photos cannot show, and complete data: year, usable area, floor, monthly costs. Virtual tours and advanced filters help people choose, but they do not rescue a set of photos taken in a hurry.
Are buyer and seller guides worth publishing?
They are, because they capture the searches that happen months before the decision. Someone searching what paperwork is needed to sell a flat is not a client today but can be in three months. Listings also expire and disappear, while guides stay and keep the site alive in Google.
What do I do with sold listings?
Do not delete them abruptly. Mark them as sold and keep them as evidence of activity, or redirect them to the right category so you are not left with hundreds of error pages. A portal that loses half its pages overnight loses positions with them.
Medical Clinic Website
See the page ↗Why does a clinic need a website when it already has a Google profile and a Facebook page?
Because the profile brings the call but does not answer the questions. Patients want the full list of services, the doctors, the opening hours, where to park and how to book, information you control only on your own site. The Google profile stays essential for local search and works best when it points to a site that confirms all of it.
Does online booking genuinely help?
It helps the front desk first: it absorbs simple requests outside opening hours and reduces calls that only check availability. The patient gets a written confirmation, the clinic gets staff time back. The condition is that the availability shown must be real, because an out-of-date calendar does more harm than a phone line.
What does patient data security mean for a clinic site?
At minimum: HTTPS with a valid certificate, forms that do not send medical details over unencrypted email, restricted access to the admin panel, and backups. If the site collects health data, it must be treated as sensitive data with clear retention and deletion rules. This is a compliance conversation as much as a technical one, and it is worth having with a specialist.
How does a clinic rank well in local searches?
There is no button that lifts you, but there are things that consistently count: identical name, address and phone number everywhere, a separate page for each service instead of one list, genuine reviews, and a site that is fast on a phone. Local search is also the most competitive, so results come from consistency rather than from a single intervention.
Web Design - The Trends That Will Define 2024
See the page ↗This article was written for 2024. What still holds?
Everything that was not fashion: responsive design, simple navigation, and microinteractions that confirm what the user just did. What aged is the accents, highly contrasting colour as a seasonal trend, and the enthusiasm for voice interfaces, which never became a requirement for business sites. The gap between a trend and a principle shows up after exactly a couple of years.
Should I rebuild my site just because it looks dated?
Not for looks, but looks are rarely the only problem. A site that looks old usually loads slowly, is awkward on a phone and lacks the structure optimisation needs, and those are the reasons. If it works well and merely looks dated, a design refresh is far less work than a rebuild.
Do animations slow a site down?
They can, when they are done badly. An animation written in CSS on properties that do not force layout recalculation is practically free; one built with heavy libraries loaded on every page is felt immediately. Practical rule: motion should explain something, a state, a transition, a confirmation, not prove that it is possible.
How often should a site be redesigned?
Less often than people think, if it is maintained. A well-built site is updated in steps: pages reworked, components replaced, content refreshed. A full rebuild every two years is usually a sign that the first build was never designed to grow.
SEO - How to Stay Relevant in Search Results
See the page ↗What happens to my site when Google changes its algorithm?
Usually nothing dramatic, if you took no shortcuts. Big updates hit the patterns Google has signalled for years that it does not want, thin content, artificial links, pages built for crawlers, and sites that answer real questions ride them out far better. The right response to a drop is to look at which pages lost and on which searches, not to change everything.
What were Panda and Penguin, and why do they still matter?
Two historic updates that set today's rules: Panda penalised low-quality content, Penguin penalised artificial links. They are no longer separate events, because their logic was folded into the algorithm's normal operation. They are worth remembering by anyone who wants to understand why more content and more links were never strategies.
What is the one thing that does not change in SEO?
The intent behind the search. Algorithms change precisely in order to serve it better, so a site that genuinely solves the searcher's problem moves in the same direction as every update. The rest, technique, structure, speed, are conditions of entry, not advantages.
How often should I update old content?
When the information stops being true or when the page loses positions, not on a calendar. Updating an article that already earns traffic is almost always more profitable than writing a new one on the same subject, because it starts with the authority already gained. Changing the date without changing the content fools nobody.
ShadowBan: What It Is and How to Avoid It
See the page ↗How do I know I have been shadowbanned?
You get no notification, which is where the name comes from. The signals are indirect: a sudden, sustained drop in impressions, posts that stop appearing under hashtags, an account that cannot be found in search from another profile. Check first from a logged-out account, then line the period up against what you changed in your activity.
What causes a shadowban?
Most often: content that breaks the platform's rules, behaviour that resembles spam, burst posting, the same comment repeated, dozens of irrelevant hashtags, and automation tools that imitate human activity. Intent does not count; the pattern the algorithm sees does.
How long does it last and how do I get out of it?
There is no announced duration, because officially it does not exist. What helps: stop the behaviour that triggered it, remove the problematic content, slow down for a few days and resume naturally; if the platform offers an appeal form, use it. What does not help is posting more to compensate.
Does it affect my position in Google?
No. A shadowban is a visibility restriction on social platforms, under their rules; Google has its own penalties, which are announced in Search Console and concern spam, content or links. The confusion is common, but these are entirely separate systems.
Shopify: What It Is and How It Works
See the page ↗What is Shopify, exactly?
A hosted e-commerce platform: you pay a subscription and the platform provides the store, the servers, the updates and payment processing. Launched in 2006, it is built so a merchant can sell without running infrastructure. In exchange, customisation goes only as far as its themes and apps allow.
Shopify or WooCommerce?
The real difference is who owns and runs the store. Shopify is rented and simple to start; WooCommerce runs on your own WordPress, where you have full control of the code, the data and the hosting costs, along with responsibility for updates. We build stores on WooCommerce or in custom code, so if you choose Shopify it is only fair to say upfront that this is not where we work.
Do Shopify apps solve everything?
They solve a lot, but every app is another monthly subscription and a piece of code you do not control. Stores that start cheap often end up with a stack of apps costing more than a feature built once. Count the recurring costs before, not after.
How does Shopify handle SEO?
You get the basics, titles, descriptions, meta tags, a sitemap, and limits you cannot change, such as the imposed URL structure for products and collections. That does not prevent ranking, but it means the difference is made by content, theme speed and catalogue organisation. As everywhere, the platform does not rank; the pages do.
WordPress: What It Is and How It Works
See the page ↗Is WordPress suitable for a company site, not just a blog?
Yes. It began as a blogging platform in 2003, but it has long been a general CMS used for brochure sites, stores, portfolios and publications. What makes it suitable is that you can manage the content yourself, without depending on someone for every text change. The limit is not the platform, it is how the installation is built.
What is the difference between WordPress.org and WordPress.com?
The first is the open-source software you install on your own hosting, with complete freedom over themes, plugins and code. The second is a hosted service with plans and limits, where part of the control stays with the provider. When someone says a WordPress site in a professional context, they almost always mean the first.
Why does WordPress have a reputation for being slow and insecure?
Because of how it is used, not because of the platform. Cheap themes with heavy page builders and twenty overlapping plugins produce slow sites; installations left unupdated for years produce hacked ones. The same risks exist everywhere, WordPress simply runs a huge share of the web and is the favourite target of automated attacks.
How many plugins are too many?
The count is not the problem; what each one does and who maintains it is. A plugin abandoned two years ago, or one that loads scripts on every page for a feature used in a single place, does more harm than five well-chosen ones. Practical rule: if you cannot say what a plugin does and when it was last updated, remove it.
Web Domain / Hosting - What They Are and How They Work
See the page ↗What is the difference between a domain and hosting?
The domain is the address, the hosting is the place. The domain, the name plus an extension such as .ro or .com, is what someone types; the hosting is the server where the site's files and database live. You can buy them from different providers and move them separately: they are two services, not one.
Should I choose .ro or .com?
If you sell in Romania, .ro is the natural choice: it is instantly recognisable and states who you are addressing. .com makes sense if you have customers abroad or plans to expand. If you can afford it, take both and redirect one to the other so nobody else claims it.
Does the domain stay mine if I change agency or host?
Yes, if it is registered in your name or your company's, and check that now, not on the day you want to leave. Ask to be the account holder at the registrar and keep your credentials; an agency can manage a domain without owning it. The same applies to hosting and to analytics accounts.
Does hosting affect speed and Google rankings?
It does, through server response time and stability. A slow or overcrowded server delays every page, and that delay is felt both in the visitor's experience and in what Google measures. You do not need the most expensive option, but one suited to your traffic and located sensibly relative to your audience.
What Is the SSL Protocol and Why Your Website Needs It
See the page ↗What does an SSL certificate actually do?
Three things: it encrypts the data between browser and server, it confirms the server is who it claims to be, and it ensures the data was not altered in transit. That is why it matters for passwords, forms and payments: without it, information travels in the clear and can be intercepted or tampered with.
I only have a brochure site. Do I need one?
Yes. Browsers visibly mark pages without HTTPS as not secure, and that warning drives visitors away whatever you sell. Any contact form also transmits personal data, so HTTPS is now a baseline requirement rather than something reserved for stores.
SSL or TLS, what is the difference?
TLS is the successor to SSL and is what is actually used today; SSL survived as a generic term for both. In practice, when you buy an SSL certificate you get a certificate used by TLS. What matters is that the server runs current versions of the protocol, not what you call it.
Do I buy a certificate or is it free?
Both exist. Many hosting providers include free certificates through Let s Encrypt, which encrypt exactly as well as paid ones; paid certificates mainly add extended organisation validation and commercial warranties. For most brochure sites the free option, auto-renewed, does the job, and the important part is that it never expires.
The Importance of Showcasing a Business Online Rather Than Offline
See the page ↗Does an online presence really replace a physical shop?
It does not replace it; it changes its role. The physical space still matters where touching the product, trying it on, or the direct relationship matter; online takes over research, comparison and first contact, which happen anyway, with or without you. Most businesses gain from the combination rather than from choosing.
Why is online said to be more measurable?
Because every step leaves a trace: how many people came, from where, what they read, where they gave up and how many sent a form. In a physical shop you know, at best, how many bought. The practical difference is that online you can fix what is not working after two weeks instead of guessing for a year.
I run a local business. Does an online presence still matter?
It matters more, not less, because people search near me before getting into the car. For local businesses the priority is not a complicated site but correct, identical information everywhere, address, hours, phone, plus reviews and pages that state clearly what you do and where. Paid advertising can be limited to a few kilometres around you.
What does it cost to start online?
Less than renting a space, but not nothing, and not only at the start. The real costs are the domain, hosting, building the site, maintaining it and a promotion budget; the order in which you cover them depends on how fast you need the first customers. Tell us what you sell and to whom, and we will talk about where it is worth starting.
